Cornelia Dean

Dean is an author, a lecturer at Brown University and a science writer and former science editor of The New
York Times, where she led her staff to every major journalism award and the Lasker Award for Public Service.
She has also taught at Harvard and the Columbia School of Journalism. A fellow of the AAAS, she lives on the
islands of Manhattan and Chappaquiddick. Her most recent book, "Making Sense of Science: Separating
Substance from Spin," is a finalist for the 2017 LA Times Book Prize in Science & Technology.
